I studied electrical and electronics engineering but I have a real passion for coding, software engineering, and computer science. I have no idea why I didn’t choose computer science or computer engineering at university. My coding adventure starts in high school. I bought a C# book for beginners and read carefully all sentences. Algorithms, loops, variables, OOP all different concepts come together and I love this chaos. Day by day, I read lots of books, watched lots of videos and tutorials, and at the end of the day, I improved myself on web development. Also, studying engineering was very helpful to understand complex concepts because of math lessons, problem-solving methods, etc. When I was a sophomore, I needed to do an internship. In turkey, university students have to do two internships. So, my first internship was in TAV Technologies. My mentor was an awesome person and helped me directly with Javascript. All code we wrote together on my Github, It’s a simple to do application but increases my web development knowledge extremely. Also, I observed lots of concepts in Tav Technologies. Some kinds of questions like how to software engineers work, how the agile method applied in real life answered. Then, my electronics student journey continued. When I think last two years, I can’t remember my lessons fluently at university. This is because I have a passion for software and computer science. When last university year came, I planned to do something on coding for my final project, because I don’t like electronics and electrical things. So, I started the talk with my friends whose departments are computer engineering and science. I was shocked at that moment because they talked about their project and showed some codes to me but I can’t believe my eyes. All codes, all ideas are very basic and I want to create something different.

Believing in myself is important because I wanted to create a challenging project in the computer science area. Also, my friends pushed me to create new ideas and we did lots of brainstorming. Then, we decided on a cloud gaming console project :D. I know, It was challenging but It was not creative. I also talked to many professors about new projects. One of the days, my computer science professor send an email to me. Mail was about a project and Its name was SmartPark. So, I talked to my friend and we decided to change our cloud gaming console to SmartPark. The project was about decreasing carbon emissions in Istanbul. Mobile application, some hardware sensors are used in this project and my friend and I got some scholarship because our status in the senior year was under graduated searching assistant. I designed a mobile application, server, and database for this project. When I turn back to see what we have done all one year, I see a mobile application and server, and quite complex problems like car parks management using the mobile app and shortest path problems for users. Then, we closed this book two weeks before and we graduated in electrical and electronics. When I studied on EEEN also I work on school in this project. Also, many people can’t believe me but I worked a part-time job in software engineering last six months. So, I studied, worked in school, and worked for a company. The working time was over 12 hours a day and this was a disgusting experience for me. But, I improved myself extremely in web development, time management, and communication.

I talked about my last engineering internship as a different blog post. If you want, you can go here to read my one week of experience in four weeks internship. After four weeks, the company asked me to continue with software engineering as a part-time employee. I was confused a lot but I can’t refuse this advantage. My family, my friends said that ‘You can’t do this, studying and working at the same time on two different jobs’ but I can. Now, I am working full-time software engineer and I want to go abroad and studying a master of science in computer science. These days, I am working on a UI renderer which is people can use ReactJs with some YAML files. I can’t give some details but It is very challenging for me at all :)
